Leopold Kaufmann

Born in 1932 in Reuthe, Vorarlberg. Completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter in his parent's firm, and after securing his school-leaving certificate (Matura) he went on to study at the Graz University of Technology. Following a joint undertaking with Helmut Eisentle and Bernhard Haeckel in Reuthe, he set up his own architectural firm in Dornbirn in 1965. The range of building projects he has been involved in is impressive, from cableways to schools, kindergartens, gymnasiums, church extensions, and retirement homes, with only a few residential buildings on his list of achievements. Kaufmann has taken part in over one hundred competitions and has been awarded first prize some twenty times.
